Today marks my 365th workout with @kayla_itsines BBG program. The most invigorating part of your fitness journey is that you are your only competition. It teaches you determination and accountability. No one will show up and do the work for you, and no one will push you to go to the gym when you don’t feel like it - it’s all you. Throughout my journey I’ve lost over 15lbs but I’ve gained confidence. I ran my first 5km and 10km races and beat my own personal time in both. Currently training for my first half marathon next April. Live your healthiest life for yourself and your future. Trust me, it’s worth it. 💪🏻
Why am I showing a throwback of my vacay a few weeks ago when it's "Transformation Tuesday?!" 🤔Because this day is not only about remembering how far we've come physically in our fitness journeys, but how far we've come mentally as well. 2 years, 6 years, hell 12 years ago I would have NEVER even thought about wearing JUST a sports bra in public! 😱 Even in the sweltering Mexico heat, I would have been covered in layers and dying hot. 😅Before BBG I never wore shorts and hated wearing sleeveless clothing, let alone a bathing suit. 🤣 My point is ladies, life is too short to feel bad about yourself or uncomfortable with your bodies. We are BEAUTIFUL at any size, shape, or weight and we should NEVER feel like we have to hide ourselves from the world. ❤️ BBG has given me the best gift ever, CONFIDENCE! Well, this week wasn't perfect, but not every week will be. It was my birthday week, so I indulged in both food/sweets and beer more than usual. I was sick with a sinus infection for the past few days and am only starting to feel like myself again today (albeit, exhausted.) I decided that playing chase with my toddler for an hour on and off this afternoon was going to suffice as my HIIT. Not a true hit, but I did run around quite a bit, so it definitely counts as something. Everything else I got in as normal. I'm feeling amazing right now! I just finished #bbgweek54arms and I made it through all of my medicine ball push-ups without having to modify to my knees halfway through! It may have taken 13 months of hard work to get to this point, but the point is that now I know I can do it! Taking a rest day tomorrow (most likely) because tomorrow is my birthday! I'm turning 39 tomorrow and have never been in better shape, physically or mentally. I spent my entire 38th year dedicating myself each and every week to this workout program and it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. "She's got stretchmarks" , "she's got loose skin", "doesn't really have abs, she just flexes" all these plus a whole lot more comforting thoughts that go through some really insecure people's minds. Some people find comfort in others insecurities, but guess what? These aren't mine.... ANYMORE! 💁🏽😊 Whether I flex or not, this is still MY BODY. This is, even if it is for a sec, it is still ME. I'm proud of how my body can look, flexed, lying down, standing , side angle, whatever lighting and I love sharing raw photos too so people can understand that what I was once so insecure about has now become something I am most proud of! Whether people like it or not is truly none of my business, I just want women to know that having a child or gaining weight shouldn't stop you from achieving your dream body. Along with achieving that you have to understand that it comes with afew little things too, losing weight you might have heaps of loose skin to deal with and that's okay, IT DOESN'T DEFINE YOU OR YOUR JOURNEY BUT REMINDS YOU OF YOUR STRENGTHS. Lastnight VS This morning. After having sooo much yummy food lastnight at an Aunt's birthday celebration, I came home with a massive tummy, feeling extremely uncomfortable and although it's happened before I was worried the bloat wouldn't go away! Woke up this morning, pic on the right, and so happy but felt a little stupid for thinking just one episode of uncontrolled eating would throw me off track. Our body can really do amazing things! So used to eating clean that obviously if I change that all of a sudden my body will definitely react like the pic on the left, but it's temporary unless you do so often that you forget about your goals. Left- worked out super hard for a week just for the beach, really self conscious of my small booty and chest that I tried to hide it, and the beginning of the journey. Right- ~55 weeks of bbg later, lots vacation meals, haven't worked out consistently for the past month, and first time wearing a non padded bikini top because I've always been so self conscious of how flat I look but f that, love what you got! Confidence and a smile is the best look 🙌🏻 A reminder that it's never too late or impossible for change to happen and it's not something that occurs just like that. It's hard to stay committed to acknowledging weaknesses and fears, loving your flaws, embracing the failures and periods of plateau and struggling through the challenges. Almost two years (when I didn't think I could last a week) of putting in work, connecting with others, and striving to be a better version of myself is what's on the right! I love both versions of me, but the inner change that has happened has been life changing and far surpassed my physical progress. Muscle gains fluctuate up and down, it's OKAY. Work out that positive, forgiving, get back up again mentality even harder. Lots of self love and feeling confident in myself has had to happen, but never be afraid to at least try 💪🏼
Holy lunging and jumping!!!! 😳. I don't remember a bbg leg workout having even close to as many lunges as week 54! 😫. I was dripping sweat and I will most definitely have trouble walking the next couple of days! @runfitmumkatie have you done it yet? I never save legs for this late in the week, but now resistance is complete! Told you I'd get it done @fitmomqueenbee 😉.
