It accounts for between 4-6g of the ‘sugars’ per 100g of yoghurt. The amount of lactose depends on how the yoghurt is made ➖In flavoured yoghurts, ‘sugars’ above this amount per 100g come from added sugars. Some yoghurts can contain the equivalent of 2-4 teaspoons of sugar per tub! 😳 ➖Natural/Greek yoghurt is best ➖Previously low fat was recommended however newer evidence says both full fat and low fat are ok so go with your preference. Low fat will save you some calories if you’re looking to cut back ➖Artificially sweetened yoghurts also contain no added sugar but the sweeteners used aren’t everyone’s preference. A few yoghurts are sweetened with Stevia which may be preferred because it is derived from a plant, not chemically produced
