Guys I'm feeling so much better but more than that I'm feeling so proud of myself! Old Steph would have been like, you're sick, take the week off. ❌Which by the way IS extremely important to do if your body is telling you to do so❌but I knew mine just needed one day off. So Tuesday I dragged myself upstairs and got to it. I found that starting off with yoga with/or stretching really helps me get in the mood. I started off with a half an hour walk in the snowy dusk, came back, did 36 mins stretching to loosen my hips, then took it easy with BBG wk 2 legs but still broke a sweat! Today I started with a 20 min full body stretch followed by an upbeat cardio sesh, with allll the jumping jacks (15 mins) then moved on to a focused glute workout, I like to call it a glute grill cuz my πŸ‘ was on πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯and that was about 20 mins. Finished off with lying in wide knee child pose to relieve the tension. And after a hot shower I feel great! I also started a fitness bullet journal to keep me on track! How's your week going? Guyyysss I'm sick! And I'm so upset about it because I 100% can't do week two legs today! Last night I was so amped and this morning I woke up with what feels like weights in my head and a swollen throat 😒 I've ended up eating chicken soup, drinking lemon, ginger tea and watching Frozen, (for the gazillionth time) with the littles, all day, in sweat pants. πŸ˜† Ai the flu has gone around here and I'm the only one that didn't get it.. Until now. Oh well, my body is telling me it needs rest, I feel so week and all my muscles hurt, so I'm going to listen to my body! So let's talk BEST and WORST! My favourite workouts are ab workouts. In primary school I did karate for 2 years and in high school I was in the circus for 2 years, both of these activities needed a lot of core strength, so my core is still pretty tough today which make ab workouts doable, which make them fun! My fav ab exercise is ab bikes 😁 sometimes if I'm doing ab bikes and the timer goes off I just carry on until it burns πŸ”₯ My absolute worst is arm workouts. I think 99.9% if you will agree with me. In circus I did aerial dancing, so I needed strong arms, and I could pull myself up the silks and do all kinds of crazy gymnastics up in the air, ask me to do a push up? Lol. No thanks. And so we get to my worst arm exercise and worst exercise in general push ups... Urgh and there are so many variations! Knee push ups, reverse push ups, drop push ups, spider push ups, all of these are scattered through BBG and instill eternal dread in my soul when I see them on the workout page. πŸ˜–πŸ˜– So there you have it, my fav and worst workouts, lucky (unlucky) for me, they're one in the same in the BBG program πŸ˜†πŸ˜‘ so many mixed feelings on Wednesdays. Hi everybody! My little boss and I were very excited about all the new followers who joined our story yesterday! Thank you! I have not yet been able to look at everyone's profile, and probably won't get the chance to but I thought I'd tell you guys a bit about me. What's very important to me, in my own fitness journey and in supporting others is not to focus on weight loss. The words 'weight loss' and 'skinny' create an unrealistic, media driven image of a 'skinny' model on the cover of a magazine and not everyone who loses some weight is gonna look like that! We're all build differently! Our skin and bones and metabolisms all grow differently, we can't change that and we shouldn't want to. That shouldn't be the goal! The goal should be to feel your best in the skin you're in and I'm sure you've heard it before, but I'm saying it again, feeling happy with who you are is what's most important. I support all kinds of fitness goals, including the #gainingweightiscool movement. For me fitness is about you time, in this crazy world with all its busyness we spend so little time giving attention to ourselves. This year is our year, let's give ourselves something!! πŸ’ͺπŸ‘Š
Hiiiiii guys! Remember me?? πŸ˜πŸ™‹ I haven't posted since the end of Feb 2016 and here's why. No, it's not because I had that baby, that's not my baby πŸ˜‚ but she is my boss! Let me start from the beginning. I started into week 6 of the movement last year and didn't make it further. I came up with all kinds of excuses that led me to eating badly again and letting my fitness sputter to a stop. I tried to start up again a couple of times, but life was hectic and kept giving me reason to make excuses. I moved a bunch of times, once living out of a suitcase for a week and I worked full time through it all. It was tough. But so much has changed. I now live in a different country (Austria) , I have a waaaaay more chilled job (Au Pair) ☝️ and it's a new frikken year! I'm ready to dive back into BBG and kill it!! I thought it would be a good idea to start up this account again because it really helped me last time, following others journeys and supporting each other, and instagram is where I discovered BBG anyway! And I didn't want to start a new one, because having started and failed a year ago is part of my journey too. So I'm kicking off eating better from today and the movement on Monday 9th. I'm starting with pre BBG because guys, I literally pulled a muscle picking up that little the other day. It's terrible! 😭😁 but it would only be worse if I didn't keep going. Was doing acro on the beach with a circus buddy last night (I'm the flyer) . But this isn't some happy, I feel alive pic. Fuuuuck I'm heading down hill! I only completed 2 workouts last week (skipped legs πŸ˜“) and havnt done a single one yet this week and it's halfway through the week already! 😲 I've thrown all good eating out the window and have been mowing down on the gluten and sugar and alcohol (all the bloating) Damn. Okay, you know what, in these situations it's easy to think you've done so badly that you can't pick yourself up again and that you've failed. So. Despite the fact that I am hanging pretty heavy today I am also very proud of myself! It's friggen hard to work as much as I do AND have a social life AND a boyfriend AND me time (I know some people do more than that, but I finished school like, the other year, so this is all new to me πŸ™ˆ) BUT yesterday I worked a full shift until 6pm and went straight to my friends place, did my week 5 full body workout (πŸ˜₯), went to the clubs, danced my πŸ‘ off and then went home with my boyfriend and spent a funny morning with him being still tipsy. πŸ‘ŠπŸ‘ŠπŸ‘Š Balance is so hard to do, and as you get older, you have to balance more, I'm learning this now. Not everyday will have good balance, but damn it feels good when you manage it! Going to take my little sister to the pools and float around while this hangover wears off. I just completed one month of bbg and took a selfie in between each circuit πŸ˜… So my bbg story in a nutshell is: I started bbg in Oct 2015 when I was living in France, working as an au pair. But I stopped after 2 weeks, came back home to Cape Town, South Africa and then it was the festive season and I just couldn't start again. But the movement was my chance! So I jumped back in. I work full time, 5 days a week and have to support myself with living and food and all of it... And I'm 20! So it hasn't been easy, I'm tired a lot, my feet hurt, I have NO social life and sometimes I just feel like I can't do it. I have to move the workout days around a lot, I'm hardly ever on schedule, depending on when I work and how tired I am. And liss has been almost non existent 😳 BUT! Not one single workout of the 12 that I have done, have I not given my absolute all and pushed myself to my limit. When I started the first time I was nervous to have a fitness account, but just like many of you ladies I started one to inspire others because others have inspired me! Sometimes when I can't bring myself to workout after a full shift, I scroll insta and read all your posts and I get up and smash it for me and for us all! πŸ’ͺ So to all the ladies who just completed 1 month bbg!
