A mix of freezing rain and snow ❄️☔️🌨meant today was strength training day! Did a cross fit style circuit to get the heart rate up followed by shoulders and back, and some extra push-ups for good measure. Form isn't perfect but I'm feelin the burn! 💪🏻🔥 Love doing quick circuit strength training workouts- anyone have any good ones to share??
Day off from work, day off from running... perfect day to spend in the woods, skiing with my dad. (And worked up a sweat, my dad skis faster than I do!!) 😎⛷

Yesssss!!! Needed this run! Had a crappy week, just feeling down and lacking motivation. First 5 minutes of this run sucked, and then it just clicked, and I felt like I could run forever. So grateful for this run. Longest run in months, and highest weekly mileage in months. Finally feeling like this comeback is the real deal! The lows will happen, but they wont last forever- remember to keep going, it gets better! 😀💪🏻👍🏻💛
Happiness after a lunchtime run!! Wish I could squeeze in a #runch more often, but as a middle school teacher, I'm lucky if I have 10 minutes to eat my lunch most days. Conference day today though means a full hour for lunch! That was so refreshing!!! Hope everyone else is having a great Friday so far! 😊
2 mile easy run to warm up, felt like crap. Strength training felt much better at least! I think shoulders are my favorite. Excuse my weird lifting face 😜😤 Also, could have had this all done 2 hours ago but I kept putting it off. Gotta work on just getting it done! At least it's done now!
Current focus: easy miles. Trying to slowly increase mileage with mostly easy runs. Ran with my sister for most of it today which helps me keep it easy. When I run by myself I usually end up picking up the pace! Anyone else have a hard time truly running "easy" on their own?? (Also, loving these spring-like temperatures! This was one of the last patches of snow around! For now at least... before the cold comes back... 😨)

#tbt to my first (and only, so far) marathon! This is mile 18, right when the pain was sneaking up on me but then I saw my parents and husband at the water station and I was all smiles 😁 My mom was shouting out "I love you Em" and my husband was reminding me "it's supposed to hurt, just keep going, you are doing this!". Perfect timing for encouragement. And now I look back at what I've done as a reminder of what I'm working towards... and I can't wait to crush it! Gettin my foam roll on after a super easy 2.5. Trying to take my easy runs ACTUALLY easy, I've always been bad at that! When I run I just wanna goooooo. Also can't increase mileage too soon... so hard when I'm feeling this good! Keeping my future goals in sight and sticking to the plan so it all comes together soon.
No running today after 5 miles yesterday, gotta keep the knees in check (but they're feeling good!) So shoulders/back instead (in the ugly home gym attic). I learned my lesson the hard way about the importance of strength training, and I'm not making that mistake again. "Fail to plan, plan to fail"... I've done that too many times. I like having an overall goal for monthly mileage but I only plan out specifics one week at a time. I know my schedule, and it's not as overwhelming. I keep track of actual runs and results in my @believetrainingjournal which I love!
