Today we assembled about 180 bags of food for a local church’s backpack program for elementary school children. Many children in our community rely on free school breakfasts and lunches for nourishment, and often times don’t have much to eat (or anything at all) for dinner or on the weekends. With community outreach programs such as this backpack program, kids are given the chance to have something in their tummies until their next school meal. Local food pantries are only made possible through donations, so consider donating your time or resources to your local food pantry. ❤️

Babe, the weekend is finally here 💫
I met up with an RD friend @nutritious_niks with the intention of catching up. Yet we spent too much time focusing on instagram-worthy food choices and taking photos, instead of choosing what we actually wanted to eat and talking to each other 🙈🤳. We became conscious of our actions and decided to allocate specific photo taking time, and to choose foods we actually were in the mood for 👉(making slippery ramen noodles photo-worthy🥣). We made an effort to put our phones away after the photoshoot was over, letting us enjoy each other’s company and properly catch up 💁🏻‍♀️. Anyone else experience a friend obsessing over that Instagram shot, or are you that person who may need to make a conscious effort towards putting a phone away? 💥 How To Reduce Bloating 💥 Hands up if you’ve experienced bloating before? Like when your belly sticks out so much that you look six months pregnant! 🤰🏼🙋🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Well this post is for you! Bloating is the build up of gas in your digestive system causing your abdomen to become visibly swollen & can cause pain and discomfort, as well as effecting your emotional state. ☹️ If there's no medical reason behind your bloating, then a few simple eating changes could fix your bloating!!! Try these tips below to help reduce your bloating: 1️⃣ Swap carbonated drinks for water - this includes sparkling water, mineral water, soft drinks, diet soft drinks...basically any drinks with bubbles in them! The bubbles are simply air which you swallow and this builds up in your stomach and bam...bloating! Also be aware of how quickly you drink any liquids. If you drink too fast, you can swallow air which again leads to bloating. Note that caffeinated drinks, including coffee, energy drinks etc may also cause bloating in some people. 2️⃣ Swap chewing gum, sugar free mints and any other lollie, food or drink with artificial sweeteners for fresh mint. Artificial sweeteners can’t be digested properly and cause a build up of gas, making you bloat, whereas mint has been found to help reduce bloating. 3️⃣ Reduce your portion sizes & don’t skip meals - if you eat too much at one time, your stomach will simply stretch, like a balloon, as it’s designed too, fill up with food and tag-dah, you have a food baby! Eating regular, small meals, and not skipping meals, can help reduce bloating & avoid you getting a food baby. Aim to feel satisfied, not “full” when you eat. Or a for 80% full, not 100% full, overfill or stuffed.
