Exploring Creative concepts with Karsh Hagan last week! We love working with these creative people!
Make serving a game! 🍽🍽🍽 As a server your attitude can affect a diner’s experience. If you’re having a grand time, hopping from table to table, communicating, figuring out who sat first, what you’re going to say in your greeting, what item you want to push today, it can be exciting!!! 🍽🍽🍽 I think of it as musical chairs, but I’m the server with several different chairs 😫😂 or think of it like monopoly! 🍽🍽🍽 What’s the aim? To increase guests checks by having them order as mush as they possibly can! Have fun suggesting, or I prefer when guest come in and have no idea what they want, to use my “Tiffany & Co. selling skills” (yes, I also worked at Tiffany & Co.) Asking open ended questions. It’s so much better than just suggestive selling, because your hitting some emotions and making the guest think and really communicate what they like or dislike so you can sell them a menu item they love. 🍽🍽🍽 A. Suggestive selling: We have a new cocktail that is creamy, shaken and garnished with a cinnamon stick, would you like it? B. Open ended questions: What kind of liquor do you like? Scenario A can leave you, the server, with a yes or no response. What are you going to do next? Go down the list of cocktails until the guest says “yes, that one sounds good, I’ll try it!” Absolutely not! Scenario B, you may get a response like “I prefer whisky”. With that reply you can offer the guest three whiskey cocktails, and now they are more likely to choose one. 🍽🍽🍽 Look make work fun! It can be especially when diners are in and out and you are managing with many different personalities! One of the games I play is what am I going to learn today on my shift.
