HOW TO MIX UP AND STEP UP YOUR TRAINING👇🏽⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Okay so it’s all well and good smashing out 4 sets of 10 reps on every exercise each week, but after a few months you might find yourself getting bored, or a lot less challenging👀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Try using TUT training in your program!💪🏽 TUT stands for “time under tension” which basically means how long a muscle is under tension for during a set.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👆🏽 Here i’m showing an example doing split squats (💀) So i’m using a tempo of 1/4/0 which means: 💟 1 second on the lifting part (power, drive hips forward) 💟 4 seconds on the lowing (this is the eccentric part) using an extended period of time on this part will break down muscles and encourage growth) 💟 0 seconds between reps - if you can💦⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ By having a muscle under tension for longer you will cause the muscle to break down more, and once repaired will become bigger 🌈⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You use this technique with most lifts! It’s a great one to use with compounds as well, as a way to build strength! Ok it's #backday but apparently my Workout partner was admiring my hamstrings 😂 This is perhaps the worst photo to demonstrate it, but I love bent over rows! To make it less of a lower body move and to really target upper back, I keep my back flat as you would with a bench row - just both arms at once. Make sure to lower the weight from your traditional bent rows so you're not sacrificing form!
