Transformation Tuesday - My body is transforming before my eyes! I can hardly believe that less than 10 months ago, I was laying in a hospital bed waking up from open-heart surgery. It has taken persistence and hard work, but I not only feel stronger, I am beginning to see the gains. I am proof that medical conditions can be overcome and age is not a barrier to building muscle and getting fit. According to government recommendations, a healthy diet should contain at least 2 portions of fish per week, 1 of which is an oily fish. • 1 portion= 140g. . 🐟 WHY? - Fish is a good source of protein, omega-3 and other vitamins and minerals e.g., iodine, potassium, vitamin D and B vitamins. - Oily fish are especially rich in a type of polyunsaturated fat called omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for heart health❣️. . ℹ️As of yesterday, tuna is no longer classified as an oily fish as it contains similar amounts of omega- 3 to white fish. . 🐟 This doesn’t mean you should stop eating tuna as it’s a great source of lean protein (~25g/ tin). It simply means, the oily fish examples above are better in terms of heart health. . 🌱 As per most foods, I prefer to eat fish in cake form ✌🏼.
