Sometimes I wake up with anxiety for no reason at all. I search for some determining factor that can explain these feelings of heaviness and for the tightness in my chest. Little mundane things, like going to the shops, make me feel overwhelmed and are too much to cope with. The thought of getting out of my bed is exhausting. I look around me and I wonder how it’s so easy for everyone else. Fortunately enough I have the experience of having lived with my old friend anxiety for many years now so I am able to remind myself that I’m not alone. Everyone has experienced anxiety in one way or another, some to more profound levels than others. I remember that it will pass and that I have the tools to help myself. Meditation has been one of the most useful and deeply effective tools I have adopted to combat my anxiety. Sitting still and watching my breath is such a powerful way to stop myself from concentrating on the incessant noise in my head, and from letting my emotions overwhelm and overpower me. Slowly slowly my clarity sets in and I start to breathe freely again. 4:20 am zen moments. I've built meditation into my daily morning and evening rituals for 2 years now. Found it very difficult at first to concentrate and not drift off in thought, and although I only do 10 min at a time I've seen positive improvements in concentration, controlling thought processes and sleep improvements. I highly recommend you experiment with different styles and see what works best for you. Time for nothingness 😶 ✨✨✨ Because we all need some goal-less, aim-less, do-less time and space to let the body and mind both heal, and wander, and come up with new ideas. ✨✨✨ I had the impromptu pleasure of a quick reunion getaway with my beau to Phuket, where the very lovely people at @novotelphuketkaron treated us to an amazing dinner and - really, really - a very impressive aroma pressure point massage. I have been to places that charge an arm and a leg (and maybe keep a bit of your soul without permission) for massages and treatments - this experience was top notch and of intensive and attentive quality. Added bonus of the beautiful Karon beach just a stone’s throw away. 🌟🏊🏻‍♀️🏝 I’m missing the snow in London and back in Singapore. The Breaking of a Mala Bead Necklace. As most of you know I make jewelry too. The meaning of the stones and crystals are very important to me. I recently broke one of my favorite Mala Bead Necklace. At first I was sad and panicked what did that mean. I was worried I had just bestowed bad luck or intention upon myself. But in research I came to find the opposite to be true. If your mala breaks, don’t fret! A breaking mala, according to history and tradition, is viewed as a positive sign because it represents a break through in your practice and a sign of progression. When your mala breaks, take a moment to reflect on all the breakthroughs you have experienced up to this point in your life. Perhaps the intention that you were chanting in fact came to fruition and you have a new one that needs set in place. If you were really digging that mala, you can restring it, bless it and set a new intention. If you aren’t crafty, I can help you with your Mala.
