Happy Tuesday! This isn’t a “I’ve been skinny my whole life, and decided to start lifting weights and gain muscle” post. I’ve actually been average all my life and then gained a bit of weight in my early 20’s which I was at my highest. 25 lbs heavier than I am currently. The picture on the left was actually a few years after that about 9 months after having my son. I got to an unhealthy low due to extreme anxiety and depression. I ended up in the ER multiple times thinking I was about about to die. (Those who have or have had anxiety know what I’m talking about.) Not a fun time. I was dealing with struggles that millions of humans deal with every day. It was definitely the roughest patch I’ve hit in life so far and that time frame seemed like it lasted forever. I decided I I needed to take care of my well being for myself, for my son, and our future because I couldn’t keep him in this dark place. I knew that it was time to stop feeling sorry for myself and do something about it. I had to teach my self to let go of things out of my control, focus on the good to come in the future, and realize I was worth more than I felt at that time. I gradually started working out again and it ended up pulling me out of the storm I was in. There were still bumps in the road and still are....but that’s life and there always will be. Fitness is a huge part of my life for that reason. When you’re dealing with life’s struggles figure out what motivates you to be better and don’t let anyway stop you. Realize you ARE capable of so much more than you can imagine. Mile 1 - "Pretty sure that I'm flying! I can run a marathon right now." ... Mile 1.5 - "I got this!! 🤘🏻 I ran 1.5 miles yesterday and was DYING. I couldn't catch my breath." ... Mile 2 - "WHAT AM I THINKING FOR RUNNING THIS EARLY?!" ... Mile 2.35 - "I can totally stop. I can pause this run and no one will know." ... Mile 2.36 - "uh... How about NO! That's not the example you want to set for ANYONE. Quitting isn't an option." ... Mile 2.37 until 3 - "I can do this. I will not stop. I will keep jogging until I hit 3 miles." Yes, I said this out loud. ... Ya see - I have the SAME mentality everyone else does. I count my time left in segments just like YOU. You know what I'm talking about. The 30 minutes - which is... 3 sets of 10 minutes. Now I have 20 minutes... So 4 sets of 5 minutes. I'm JUST LIKE YOU. ... Just because I workout 5-6 days a week doesn't mean that I enjoy every single second of it. (I do 97% of the time but tht being said the 3% of the time is when it's HARD. When I've hit fatigue. When I'm ready to give up and quit.) ... I'm off my soap box now. I'm just like you guys. Never give up. If you do, fall down. Brush yourself off. Get. Back.
