🍁 P O S T P A R T U M 🍁 - I’ve had the best results with postpartum fat loss with a combination of intermittent fasting and a high protein diet. - These two things are great options because you aren’t restricting your calorie intake — an important thing if you’re breastfeeding like I am! When you breastfeed it’s super important to eat a lot of good nourishing foods since your baby’s brain and body is growing so quickly. - I eat a lot of omega-3s, nutrient dense fruits and veggies, and proteins like turkey, tuna, beef, and chicken. I don’t count calories but usually get around 90-120g of protein a day. - I usually eat from around 9-12 hours per day depending on the day and the schedule. I think it’s SO IMPORTANT for people to realize there is no one way your post partum journey is “supposed” to go, even though society thinks the gold standard is that women should just “bounce back.” Some people get stretch marks, some don’t. Some walk out of the hospital with new curves, whereas others never looked like they just had a baby. Some bodies have carried a single child, whereas others have carried multiple, sometimes in a single pregnancy! I thought I would get right back into working out as soon as I was cleared by my OB, but instead I faced complications that kept me for working out for over 4 months. I used that time to snuggle up my baby, and focus on a balanced diet while eating plenty so I could continue to nurse my son. Forgot to post my #flexfriday yesterday! Officially finished week 5 and holy hell, NEW BACK WHO DIS?! - I’ve never been one to like shoulder, chest, tri/bi or back exercises. Back in my days of aimlessly wandering the gym trying to decide/figure out what I was going to do, I always went for cardio (elliptical or treadmill) and abs. Burn the fat and get a flat belly right? Maybe because I never looked at my back I felt it was kind of pointless? Or “how is my BACK going to gain muscle?!” Haha. I have come to love back and arm days. Lifting heavy with clean form always leaves me feeling strong and apparently, actually makes a physical difference. Who woulda thought?! - The best part, every workout in this program has a hiit component and ends with core exercises so I’m still getting that cardio in and working on those abs! I was honestly very happy in the picture on the left. 🤔 . I was about 5 months postpartum as a first time mom! My miracle baby was finally here and that was what mattered most to me. 💕 . You know when you aren’t feeling 100%, not like when you’re full on sick but when you just feel off for a few days? Do you find yourself giving into it ... skipping your workouts, eating garbage, and just being straight up lazy? I had energy, a peaceful labour and the speediest of recoveries....all because I was able to workout 5-6x a week. . . It’s been a quick minute. Life has been crazy; sick kiddo, sick Momma, change in schedule, night terrors for the toddler so no sleep. Found out about a week ago that the gym I’ve called home for 5+ years (give or take a few breaks in between) changed their hours and now I’m faced with the very high possibility that I’ll have to find a new gym. I haven’t been able to train in over a week because my schedule just hasn’t matched up with the gym’s new hours. 🙁 I’m in this weird frame of mind where everything feels like it’s changing and in transition and my mind (body too) feels like it can’t keep up. I’d be lying if I said my body image wasn’t in the shitter. It is and it’s really bad at that. Just in a weird weird place all around. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Tonight I went for a soul-soothing run, my first one postpartum- I’ll be 8 weeks tomorrow. It was nice and I beat the 13:00 min mile goal I set for myself! Managed to run a 12:36 mile with no stops; not bad. I’m really hoping that the next few weeks open up to some more positivity and good vibes and that my self image and mindset will improve.
