I love Pilates for so many reasons... It makes me feel strong; it helps me to breathe better; it clears my head and relaxes my mind. After my surgery it has also been the best way to rebuild my body. I can’t believe how quickly I am returning to exercise and I have no doubt that the Pilates I did prior to my surgery and that I slowly introduced after surgery has been the reason for that. #ilovepilates #pilates #pilatesforlife #pilatesinstructor #exercise #health #hysterectomy #hysterectomyrecovery #postop #pilatesforeveryone #uaehealthmovement #strongwomen #quotes
The hundred in standing on the tower is fabulous for postnatal/post-surgery as it avoids the loaded flexion from the traditional hundred. Being up in high half toe position added a little more balance and core work. Stand further away for more weight through the arms and try to maintain your standing position as you pulse your arms and breathe! #hundred #pilates #standingpilates #ilovepilates #pilatesinstructor #reformer #tower #exercise #postnatal #postoprecovery #hysterectomyrecovery #health #mindfulmovement #uae #uaehealthmovement
So happy to be back on the reformer (with my Christmas @toesox !) albeit for a very short and light session! I have done very little over the last two weeks, having suffered badly from an infection and returning to the energy levels I had for the first two weeks post op. It did feel great to move on the reformer... I did some very light footwork and arm work and then finished with some side splits to lengthen and open all those tight muscles #pilates #pilateslovers #pilatesinstructor #hysterectomy #hysterectomyrecovery #mindfulmovement #postnatal #reformer #mindfulmovement #uae #
A glorious day in #Phuket and the perfect place for a little bit of Pilates. I tried some cat stretches, swimming preps and spine twists and then enjoyed a lovely shell stretch. I found it hard to use my abdominals to articulate my spine up into a cat stretch position and my obliques struggled to maintain my torso position for my swimming preps. I feel like I have a long way to go before I recover my strength, which is hard to accept! 4w4d post op... slowly slowly 😕 #pilates #pilatesinstructor #exercise #holidayexercise #pilatesforlife #pilatesoutdoors #hysterectomy #hysterectomyrecovery #mindfulmovement #uae #postnatal
Yesterday we spent some time walking around Angkor Wat and then when we returned to the hotel, I did little more outdoor Pilates with the flexband. It’s definitely my favourite piece of equipment to take traveling and there is so much you can do with it! I’m still focusing on low impact and low weight work at the moment. Lunges feel good again so they are back in with a little bit of balance work as well as some triceps extension and pulses #pilates #pilateslovers #pilatesforlife #exercise #holidayexercise #flexband #pilateseverywhere #pilateslife #cambodia #uae #travel #familytravel #merrithew #mindfulmovement #hysterectomyrecovery #hysterectomy
“Rest and be thankful”, William Wadsworth. This beautiful statue outside my hotel room in Cambodia definitely makes me want to rest. Her position reminds me of my first week post op, where I spent a large amount of time curled up protectively trying to recover. I am thankful that four weeks on I am improving and feel much more mobile but I know I still have a lot more healing to do as well, and therefore still need to rest. #pilates #inspiration #quotes #rest #recovery #exercise #familytravel #pilatesinstructor #hysterectomy #hysterectomyrecovery #breathe #pilateslovers #travelingpilatesinstructor #cambodia #uae #mindfulmovement
