. . . welcome to our house, where weird is wonderful. @benmarrow
Every day I’m thankful to have these crazy people in my life - and even more thankful to call them my best friends. #thanksgiving #family #cranegang
75 ‘official’ miles (total distance ~90 miles), 300+ obstacles, and 25 hours of dust, water, and cold later... we finished. First I want to thank my parents for supporting us throughout the race. Their encouragement was invaluable. While we necessarily rely on others during these races, they can also be extremely solitary and an opportunity for self-reflection. I love endurance sports because they give us opportunities to push our limits and expand what we believe to be possible for ourselves. For me, @thebella_tricks, and Zoë this meant persevering on an insanely hard course with temperatures ranging from 90 to 40. We were able to reach our goals - Zoë and Bella were 8th and 9th overall female with 70 and 65 miles respectively, and I was 27th overall male with 75....all out of a field of 1600+ total. It was inspiring to see so many others beside us pushing themselves so hard to reach their goals, or, when that wasn’t possible, adjusting those goals and making new ones to push toward. And now we all go back to “normal” life. We must mend our swollen hands, put cream on our chafed legs, and stretch our depleted muscles. But rest assured that despite the pain, the bruises, and the sore muscles, we are eagerly awaiting our next adventure. Let’s go see what’s possible.
